Resumption of Flights to Interior Municipalities: Updates on Chalair Company Plane Maintenance and CTG Announcements from November 7

There are no flights to or from the interior municipalities at the moment. The Chalair company plane, chartered by the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana since the liquidation of Air Guyane, is under maintenance in Suriname. The CTG announces a resumption from November 7.

The many people stuck on the coast will be able to go inland. Since November 5, the Chalair company plane used to serve the interior communities, is under mandatory maintenance in Suriname.

Some teachers, who work in inland municipalities, missed the start of the school year on November 6 following flight cancellations. They will be able to return to site from November 7, confirms the CTG in a press release released this Monday.

The CTG informs the population of the resumption as of Tuesday, November 7, 2023 of the emergency chartering of a plane from the Chalair company to serve the interior municipalities. The rotations will resume under the same conditions after two days dedicated to mandatory aircraft maintenance.

At the same time, the community informs that it “led discussions with the main companies likely to operate aircraft in Guyanain an extremely tight technical and regulatory schedule“. This with a view to restoring domestic air service.

Also, the CTG plans, during the plenary assembly on November 16, toexamine “the financial and technical proposals relating to the seven-month emergency PSD scheduled to begin in December. It is then that the sale of plane tickets should resume. There should also be new planes and crews.
