The 46 Ivorian soldiers welcomed as heroes this weekend in Abidjan after months of detention in Bamako. They were pardoned by Malian President Assimi Goïta. The soldiers were accused of being mercenaries. Negotiations led by the Togolese president bore fruit, but pressure from ECOWAS also played a role.
