Ricardo Arjona unleashed a strong controversy for his reflections on the role of men in society. This weekend, during one of the eight shows scheduled in Argentinathe Guatemalan singer-songwriter took a few minutes to talk with his audience and considered that today “men are behind pets on the social ladder.”
“We men lost the territory we had gainedbecause we misbehaved”, said the singer at the beginning of his usual monologue between theme and theme. He considered that in the mid-90s “all that masculine power went overboard, we lost everything”.

“You are in a bowling alley, sitting down, a guy who has the immense luck of being the one you like comes along, he makes his way through the crowd and approaches you with a typical male cheesy phrase (…) then you get into the chat with her friends and tells them ‘I just met a wild man, but sweet, I’ll leave them and go with him,'” she said.
On the contrary, “If a man comes from a group that you don’t like (…) you tell him, give me a moment and call 911”, he continued. He immediately closed his monologue and shared an unknown that worries him: “How do I have the courage as a composer to shout from the rooftops things like: ‘It’s not a sexual aberration/ But I like to see you walk around naked/ The beat of your adventurous breasts / Victims of gravity'”.
