Rice export control is not under consideration Manorama News

New Delhi: The central government has said that there is no plan to restrict the export of rice and the country has enough stock. There were indications that due to variations in rainfall in the country, exports may be restricted in view of the shortfall in paddy production in Jharkhand, Bengal, Chhattisgarh, UP, Bihar and Odisha. According to last July’s estimates, the country has 470 lakh tonnes of rice in stock. The Union Food Ministry held discussions with the rice producing states of the country including Kerala. The Center has given instructions to streamline the paddy storage in the months of September and October.
