The 2024 Global Risks Report, which the World Economic Forum has been preparing for two decades, brought to the fore a fact that had been suggested for years but that ended up exploding: the main risk perceived by more than 1,500 global experts from academia, companies , governments, the international community and civil society, is disinformation due to the advance of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The study supports other aspects of digitalizing societies such as the growing distrust in the media and the avoidance of news, a global phenomenon that, in short, ends up impacting freedom of expression and the guarantee of Human Rights. .
The United Nations (UN) addressed the issue at the end of 2022 and presented a report that, as a result of a request from members in the face of the dangerous misinformation spread during the Covid-19 pandemic, raised the central axes to counteract misinformation and called for the collaboration of States and the private sector.
The countries of the European Union are the ones that have made the most progress in trying to put limits on this phenomenon and also the large technology companies and the companies that develop AI models. The Digital Services law, approved in 2022, which holds technology platforms responsible for published content is an example. In a similar sense, the AI law was voted this year, which will come into force in 2025 and places limits on new technology.
In our country, the issue has been addressed almost exclusively by media organizations, such as Adepa, but without achieving substantive weight on the public agenda. On the contrary, the national government encourages the disqualification of media and journalists and creates optimal conditions for the circulation of false information.
Good practices and editorial guidelines

In this context, as a media outlet, it adheres to the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI) project, which is endorsed by the organization Reporters Without Borders.
The process that began at the beginning of the year seeks to certify standards of good journalistic practices, an action that only a handful of media outlets launched in the country, and which aims to establish clear editorial guidelines for the creation of quality content. It also promotes the principles of transparency and commitment adopted to achieve an ethical and rigorous journalism model.
The editorial guidelines, with public access, are a clear and concrete path for the type of journalism that this medium seeks to sustain in moments where misinformation spreads at imperceptible speeds and when some governments seek to promote the opacity of their actions. Since its creation and on this new anniversary, Río Negro ratifies its commitment to journalistic independence, pluralism, democracy, federalism and constitutional and republican standards.
In summary, certifying good journalistic practices means establishing clear and transparent work guidelines that result in protecting and promoting the trust of readers, and taking care of the integrity of the medium and its journalistic work, regardless of the format in which it publishes its content. These guidelines form a practical tool for the Editorial Team and reinforce the commitment to the fundamental principles of journalism: accuracy and fact-based communication; impartiality and equanimity; humanity and respect for others; editorial independence; and accountability through transparency.
New editorial structure
The journalism that embodies the DNA of BLACK RIVER and digital times force us to always be in motion and constantly transforming to listen to audiences and do quality journalism that contributes to democratic values. With that goal in mind, last December, the editorial organization’s operating chart was updated.
With a modernization that responds to the standards of the publishing industry, structures and positions, which for decades functioned smoothly, were modified to consolidate a new model that interprets the values of the medium and the needs of the different platforms on which the content is served. Six editors-in-chief were appointed who are in charge of specific teams and who report to the Deputy Editorial Secretary, Martín Belvis, and the General Editor, Federico Aringoli.
