A 62-year-old cyclist, father of four children, was fatally hit by a 32-year-old motorist last Saturday in Diksmuide. The motorist was under the influence of flakka, a synthetic drug which can be compared to a zombie drug and which wreaks havoc. Three other people were injured.
Relatives of the victim, Herman Tanghe, reacted angrily to the news. “We knew that the alcohol tests were negative but that we suspected the presence of drugs due to his irrational behavior after the accident,” explains Natascha, Herman’s former partner, to our colleagues at Nieuwsblad. “The fact that these are such heavy drugs makes us angry. He was taken from life by stupid drugs, it’s hard. We now hope that justice will be done and that an exemplary sentence will be given to them. inflicted.”

It leads to increased heart rate which can go as far as heart failure”, explains Bruno Valkeneers, spokesperson for the ASBL Transit.
