With the increase in the cost of living, the consumption habits of enthusiasts have changed as they have resorted more to used vehicles over the past year.
This is what promoter Yves Watier, who was present at the Quebec Snowmobile and Quad Show on Sunday, says.
“If we compare to last year, because of COVID, there were no used machines for sale,” he says. Now we have 200 used machines here and the success is excellent, so we see that people are [présents pour ce type de véhicule].»
Despite the increase in rates, Mr. Watier says he is confident that snowmobile enthusiasts will still be there this winter.
“People will continue to consume,” he explains. What they are going to reduce is the small restaurant that they were going to pay for on Thursday evening or Friday evening; they are eliminating it to be able to exercise their passion. Or we’ll go snowmobiling once every two weeks rather than every week.”
The Snowmobile Show ends Sunday at the Quebec Fair Center.
