2023-07-17 17:15:25

The number of expatriates and layoffs from Kuwait is increasing. In the last six months, more than 10,000 expatriate employees have been dismissed. An increase was also recorded in the number of deportees compared to last year.

According to figures from January to June 2023, Kuwait permanently dismissed 2.5 million foreigners, including 7,000 expatriates who worked in the government sector. Earlier, the Civil Service Commission had directed various government departments to speed up the process of excluding foreigners from the government sector.

Excluding expatriate workers is a part of solving the unemployment of native youth. At the same time, the authorities informed that more than a thousand expatriates are staying in the deportation center. A majority of those deported in the last six months are Indians. This includes Filipinos, Sri Lankans, Egyptians and Bangladeshis.
