“Road Safety Crackdown in Abidjan: Special Police for Road Safety (PSSR) Reports Over 900 Offenses”

The Special Police for Road Safety (PSSR) took stock of a week of road control operation on the roads of Abidjan.

A total of 917 offenses including 817 drivers intercepted for speeding and the arrest of 14 drivers for other offenses and 17 drivers tested positive for the alcohol test. This is the assessment of several field operations carried out by the Special Road Safety Police (PSSR), during the week of May 08 to 14, 2023 in the district of Abidjan. The information comes from the Ministry of Transport.

An awareness campaign

According to Divisional Commissioner Touré Abdul-Kader, Director of the PSSR, these operations were marked by an awareness campaign aimed at heavy vehicles as well as road checks and repression. “Our teams have reinforced network surveillance through systematic blood alcohol tests, the deployment of smart roadblocks, compliance with time slots and finally the treatment of risk areas,” he explained.
