Following the ruling, Robinho was arrested on Thursday night (21/03) and will serve his sentence in Brazil, where the prison system has been described as “hell on Earth”.
Robinho, a former star of Real Madrid and AC Milan among others, was arrested in Santos after the STJ (Supreme Court) ruled that the 40-year-old former player must serve the sentence imposed on him for rape in Brazil.
The Justice executed the Court’s decision, so Robinho will remain in prison for nine years, guilty of gang rape committed in Italy in 2013. The Federal Court of Santos received the letter from the STJ in the afternoon and in the early hours of the morning issued the arrest warrant.
Robinho was taken hours later to the headquarters of the Federal Police.
