Athanasios Retsos was born in 1929 in Skortsinos, Arkadia, and from the age of 15 in Athens, amidst adverse circumstances, he managed to distinguish himself, to create, to associate with people, his loved ones, Makis Fokas, Thomas Svyriadis and Babis Tsausoglou, co-founding the Electra Hotels & Resorts, also contributing to the development of Greek tourism.

“With sadness and pain, the family of the Electra Hotels & Resorts Group announces that this morning, peacefully at home and next to his family, Athanasios Retsos, co-founder of Electra and father of the former President of SETE Giannis Retsos, passed away at just a few days old” .
Athanasios Retsos was born in 1929 in Skortsinos of Arkadia and from the age of 15 in Athens, amidst adverse circumstances, he managed to distinguish himself, to create, to collaborate with people, his beloved Makis Fokas, Thomas Svyriadis and Babis Tsausoglou, co-founding Electra Hotels & Resorts, also contributing to the development of Greek tourism.
“Throughout his course, he charted it and followed it without deviating from his basic characteristics: persistence, patience, justice, kindness and adherence to his moral values, even when they were against his interest! These characteristics are also elements of our Group’s DNA, of which we are all proud”, added the announcement.
“We say goodbye to him with pain and sadness, but also with a unique feeling of satisfaction, that “Thanasis the Retsos” – as he liked to call himself – passed into eternity, quietly, in his home, in the arms of his own people” concludes the announcement .
The funeral will take place on Saturday 23/03/2024 at 11:00 at A Cemetery.
