Mohali: India got off to a shaky start in the first Test against Sri Lanka (IND vs SL). India won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 109 for two at lunch on the first day. Virat Kohli, who is playing his 100th Test, and Hanuma Vihari, 30, who finished third, are at the crease. India lost wickets of Rohit Sharma (29) and Mayank Agarwal (33) for their Test debut. Lahiru Kumara and Lasith Embuldenia took the wickets.
Rohit’s shot unnecessarily
Rohit Sharma disappointed in his first Test as captain. Rohit got off to a great start. Six boundaries were confident. But Suranga Lakmal was caught in the final leg in an attempt to pull Kumara’s bounce. Rohit added 52 with Mayank for the opening wicket. Mayank was soon caught in front of the wicket. The player was sent off by Embuldenia. Vihari, who replaced Pujara at number three, has so far found three boundaries. Koli has a forum on his account.
Three spinners
India will have three spinners on the pitch supporting the spinners in Mohali. R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav are the spinners in the team.
