The Rolling Stones topped the UK music charts on Friday, securing their 14th UK number one album with new record Hackney Diamonds. The Stones’ first studio work with original material since 2005 also reached the top of the charts in Australia, New Zealand and Germany, among others.
The band, founded in 1962, is one of the acts with the most studio albums that landed at the top of the British charts, alongside the Beatles, Robbie Williams and Bruce Springsteen. “Hackney Diamonds” was also the best-selling vinyl. No figures were yet available from Austria.
