According to the judicial authority, the person present at the time of the incident could be involved in the fire which cost the life of the owner of the house.

The Jumet firefighters intervened at number 10 rue du Méridien in Roux late Friday evening, with an auto pump and an auto ladder under the orders of Lieutenant Anthony Vannieuwenhoven, to control the flames. The owner of the premises was discovered lifeless in the attic of his house, firefighters confirmed. According to the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office, the latter seemed to live there with a homeless person, “without being able to specify the nature of their relationship.”

The latter, saved from the flames by the firemen, was deprived of her liberty. “A few initial elements, which I do not prefer to mention, could suggest that the latter would be involved in the facts, even if currently this is not yet certain,” indicated the press magistrate of the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office on Saturday morning. Verifications have been requested and a raid by a fire expert with the lab is planned, the judicial authority concluded.
