Rupert Murdoch backs out of Fox-News Corp tie-up

It was regarding reuniting the media empire that the billionaire had separated almost ten years ago.

No merger between the two American media giants Fox and NewsCorp. In a press release, Fox Corp indicated that Rupert Murdoch had abandoned this proposal which would have reunited the media empire which he himself had separated nearly ten years ago.

“In withdrawing the proposal, Rupert Murdoch indicated that he and Lachlan K. Murdoch (his son, editor’s note) felt that a combination is not optimal for shareholders of News Corp and Fox at the present time” can -we read.

The companies said their special committees that had been set up to look into this possible merger had been disbanded.

In recent months, this project had come up once morest opposition from the shareholders of the two entities.

As a reminder, NewsCorp owns media giants like the Wall Street Journalthe New York Post or even Dow Jones. Fox, with what was left of Twenty-First Century Fox’s $71.3 billion sale to Disney in 2019, owns the conservative Fox News and Fox Business networks.
