Russia announces the death of another general of its army | The World | D.W.

A Russian general in charge of the troops that have besieged the Ukrainian port of Mariupol was buried this Saturday (04.16.2022) in St. Petersburg following dying in combat, confirmed an authority in that city.

Major General Vladimir Frolov was deputy commander of the Russian 8th Army, which the Russian media identified as one of the forces that have waged an offensive on the devastated city of Mariupol for weeks.

Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov issued a statement saying Frolov “died heroically in battle,” without saying where or when he died.

Photographs posted on Russian news websites showed her grave in a St. Petersburg cemetery, piled with red and white flowers.

Ukraine has claimed that several Russian generals and dozens of other high-ranking officials have been killed during the invasion.
