Russia expels 18 diplomats from the European Union in retaliation
MOSCOW, April 15, 2022 (Xinhua) Russia expelled 18 diplomats from the European Union on Friday in a retaliatory move, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement said that the ministry had summoned the head of the European Union mission to Russia, Markus Ederer, to protest against the European Union’s decision to declare 19 Russian diplomats “persona non grata” earlier this month.
“In response to the hostilities of the European Union, 18 employees of the EU Delegation in Russia have been declared ‘persona non grata’ and they must leave the territory of the Russian Federation in the near future,” the ministry said.
