Russia is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. Russia has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution condemning the attack on Ukraine. Volodymyr Selensky called on world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to take a pro-political stance at the UN.

Selensky said in a video message that an international tribunal should investigate Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and condemn the Russian occupation as state terrorism. He rejected Russia’s claim that it would not attack populated areas.

Although he was ready for talks with Russia, Selensky had previously stated that he could not accept Belarus hosting the event. Selensky said Russia was attacking Ukraine via Belarus. Selensky suggested five cities, including Warsaw, Istanbul and Bike, for talks instead of Belarus.
