After a while, Russia launched a missile attack on the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, and the surrounding area. Ukrainian officials say Russia has bombarded the east and south of the country with drones. At 08:00 a.m. (0600 GMT), a Russian ballistic missile was launched into the capital, according to Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

After a long hiatus of 52 days, the enemy resumed missile attacks on Kiev. The missile did not hit Kiev. Air defenders shot it down before it hit the ground. “There were no casualties or major damage in the capital,” Popko said.

Meanwhile, five private houses and several commercial buildings in the area were damaged, said Ruslan Kravchenko, regional governor of the central Kyiv region. He said two Russian missiles hit a field between the settlements. Ukraine’s air defenses shot down 19 of the 31 Iranian-made “Shahed” drones launched by Russian forces overnight in the southern and eastern regions, the air force said in a statement.
