A few days before its release, the Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy is finally showing itself. Towards a technical disaster like Mortal Kombat 1? A comparison with the PS5 version allows us to see things more clearly.
The Hogwarts Legacy phenomenon returns to Switch
Announced at the start of the project by the Avalanche Software teams, the Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy finally getting ready to go out. The game, a free adaptation of the Harry Potter universe, had a sensational effect when it was released on PC and current-gen consoles last February. A few months later, during the PS4 and Xbox One release, the title had already sold more than 15 million copies. A colossal success for Avalanche and Warner, which should allow the license to develop further.
But in the meantime, Switch players don’t yet have the chance to discover this opus. Initially scheduled for last July, this version was ultimately postponed so that the developers could refine their work. We are now a few days away from this release which is generating a lot of interest, but also some concerns. We know that the Switch is not a monster of power, a console that works perfectly for Nintendo games, but on which ports have a hard time.
Hogwarts legacy PS5 vs Switch
Have the Avalanche Software teams managed to achieve a satisfactory, or even surprising, port for this Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy? Comparisons are already starting to emerge on the web. And here, no surprise: it’s far from being a disaster, but we’re clearly not at the level of other versions of the game.
As these images show, the game on Switch is not quite up to current graphics standards. Obviously, it’s less disappointing than the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 released recently, but the fact remains that this port ultimately seems rather uninteresting if you already own the game on another platform. The textures are unflattering, the light and shadow effects seem almost non-existent, and overall, there is much less detail displayed on the screen. So be careful, the comparisons mainly concern the cutscenes. But once in the game, it is unlikely that the Switch version will live up to its predecessors. To be able to form a definitive opinion, meet on November 14.
