After drone strikes were reported from several Russian regions, President Vladimir Putin ordered increased surveillance along the Ukrainian border. Putin did not specifically mention the drone strikes in a speech in Moscow, but his order came several hours after the incidents were reported.

According to Russian authorities, a drone went down near the village of Gubastovo, which is around 100 kilometers south-east of Moscow. This did not cause any damage, said Governor Andrei Voronkow. However, their goal was probably “a civil infrastructure object”. Voronkov did not explicitly identify the aircraft as Ukrainian. Photos revealed a Ukrainian guy who cannot carry heavy explosives. The information cannot be independently verified.

Russian regional authorities also reported a series of drone strikes in the south and west of the country. There was no damage. In the Russian region of Bryansk, drones were shot down by air defenses on Tuesday, Governor Alexandr Bogomas said on Telegram. People were not harmed.

The strategically important Ukrainian city of Bakhmut is now being attacked by Russian troops from the east, north and south.

In the Belgorod region on Monday evening, three drones caused minor damage to houses and cars, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said. A drone flew through an apartment window in the regional capital of the same name.

Moscow’s Defense Ministry said Ukraine used drones for strikes in Krasnodar and Adygea regions. They were shot down.

Air traffic suspended in St. Petersburg

Russian TV channels and radio stations were also hacked on Tuesday, and St. Petersburg’s airspace was temporarily closed. The regional government of St. Petersburg temporarily stopped all take-offs and landings at Pulkovo Airport. She gave no reason for this.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said exercises to detect, intercept and identify hostile objects in the airspace were held in western Russia in coordination with civil aviation. St. Petersburg was not specifically mentioned.

Ukrainian authorities did not comment on the incidents. They had taken no responsibility for previous attacks and acts of sabotage, but at the same time emphasized Ukraine’s right to attack any target since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression.
