Russia predicted retaliation against the Korean government’s announcement that it would restrict exports of items that could be used for military purposes to Russia, saying, “Do not be surprised if we take corresponding measures.”
According to Archyde.com, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a briefing on the 27th (local time), “Korea has taken unfriendly measures at the request of the United States,” and claimed, “This will harm Korea’s economy and industry.”
Spokesperson Zakharova warned, “We reserve the right to respond to this,” and added, “We will take corresponding measures that are not necessarily symmetrical, and Korea should not be surprised by this.”
The day before, our Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that 682 items that can be diverted for military purposes will be added to the status permit list in order to promote cooperation among the international community in controlling exports to Russia.
