Abu Dhabi Transport Collaborates with Regent Industries to Develop Sustainable Shipping Sector

The Department of Municipalities and Transport, represented by Abu Dhabi Transport, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Regent Industries, with the aim of developing the sustainable shipping sector in Abu Dhabi. The memorandum, signed by Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transportation Center, and William Thalheimer, CEO of Regent, aims to provide low-flying electric vehicles for maritime transport, whether for passengers or for the shipping materials and goods, and accelerate support for the creation of an integrated transportation system and support carbon emissions reduction goals.

Regent Industries, an American company, specializes in the development and manufacturing of electric vehicles for low-altitude passenger shipping to serve coastal routes, using proven and approved technology. The vehicles also aim to improve the integration of transportation means between land and sea and connect them smoothly, while increasing the level of efficiency and providing multiple options that integrate with various transportation means and current infrastructure to enhance new economic opportunities.

Abu Dhabi Transport determines the requirements for the use of electric shipping, in addition to providing advice on environmental audits and assessments. It will also study the possibility of participating and contributing to a pilot project lasting at least 3 months using a vehicle prototype. electric vehicle for low-altitude passenger sea transportation “Seaglider” for testing and checking the feasibility of its use in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
