The Russian Olympic Committee spoke about the possibility of a boycott of the Olympic Games. This is a road to nowhere, said the head of the committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, at an extended meeting of the ROC board, reports “Match TV».

“We live in a civilized democratic state. Therefore, a boycott by the ROC is impossible. We are not invited – there is nothing to boycott,” he said, adding that the decision to participate in the tournament should remain with the athletes.

He also added that the ROC will pay compensation to athletes who are deprived of the opportunity to participate in world tournaments or do not participate in them for moral reasons. “OCR is ready to make up for the losses that our athletes experience,” Pozdnyakov noted. He added that a project is already being prepared, which “implies payment to athletes who continue to perform and prepare, but are deprived of the opportunity to participate in world-class competitions, or for moral reasons do not want to sign anything, and therefore do not participate.”

At the same time, not only the winners and prize-winners of the previous Games will be awarded, but also everyone “who did not fold their hands, who continues to prepare, who did not agree to the neutralization process,” Pozdnyakov explained.

Thus, for the winners of the previous Olympics, the amount of compensation will be 500 thousand rubles, for silver medalists – 350 thousand rubles, for bronze medalists – 250 thousand rubles, for participants – 150 thousand rubles. If an athlete has several medals of different denominations, payment is made only for one medal of a higher denomination.

Let us remind you that the International Olympic Committee has not yet allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Games in Paris in 2024 and has not set a deadline for making such a decision.
