Exclusive translation: A video clip showed a Russian soldier, who decided to surrender on the Ukrainian battlefield of Bakhmut, desperate to survive.
Russian conscript Ruslan Anitin, 30, was one of the only survivors near the eastern city of Bakhmut, when drone and missile attacks continued for hours, eventually causing him to surrender.
After a stream of bomblets dropped on the trenches, and two other men in Anitine’s unit committed suicide, the soldier was left alone, with a difficult decision to make, according to the New York Post.
By noon that day, the Russian soldier said, he had no energy, and thought he was going to stay in that trench forever, so he decided to surrender.
