In September last year Rob flew with friends from Bristol to Alicante to celebrate a birthday in Benidorm. The problem? His Ryanair flight was delayed for more than four hours, allegedly due to Tropical Storm Hermine. The 50-year-old Briton was convinced that this was a lie from the airline.

After some research, he indeed discovered that the storm was off the west coast of Africa and had ended the day before the flight scheduled for September 25, 2022. He therefore decided to file a complaint in order to obtain compensation.

“They’re willing to go so far as to sue someone, just to really try to talk people out of getting their compensation, it was pretty ridiculous. We ended up in court and the judge ruled in my favour,” he told the Mirror.

Eventually, Rob was awarded £220 in compensation, along with his legal costs to cover, bringing the total to £516, or almost €600.
