Fans haven’t laughed at this movie for a long time.

Eldar Ryazanov presented his painting “Office Romance” 47 years ago. Viewers are still delighted with the classics of Soviet cinema, but modern audiences no longer perceive the film as a comedy.

According to the authors of the Zen channel “The Right Hemisphere of the Introvert,” “Office Romance,” for all its comical episodes, cannot exactly be called a comedy. The famous director, as film experts are sure, made a film about the emptiness of the life of a Soviet man in a big city, about the futility of his career achievements.

“Almost everyone in the film is unhappy. They are lonely, lost and spend most of their lives in deliberately meaningless work. Every day is similar to the previous one, and they have to escape boredom with gossip,” – film experts are sure.

And the director emphasizes this not only with the stories of the main characters, but also with very minor details, noticeable far from the first viewing. For example, the random “funeral” of Pyotr Bublikov, who in fact has not lived a full life for a long time. Or the names of organizations located in the building, which hint at the complete meaninglessness of this service.

And that is why “Office Romance” is a real tragedy. And the comical episodes only add to the versatility of the film and show its full depth.
