Sabrina and Ouassim killed while fleeing police Avenue Louise: three police officers charged

Three police officers have been charged in the tragedy that caused the deaths of two young Brussels five years ago. For the record, on the evening of May 9, 2017, Sabrina El Bakkali (20 years old) and Ouassim Toumi (24 years old) lost their lives in a road accident.

They were both riding a motorcycle on Avenue Louise when a police patrol noticed their dangerous driving and then chased them away. While exiting the Louise tunnel, the motorcycle collided head-on with a vehicle of the canine brigade, which was blocking the road. The young man died instantly, his girlfriend succumbed during the night, in the hospital.

“The chase was disproportionate and the police should not have put lives at risk for a traffic violation punishable by a fine”, said attorney Joke Callewaert, who represents the family of one of the two victims in Bruzz.
