Sabrinath, who is immortal in the line of Aurobindo Special | Deshabhimani

Kochi
Despite being a talented painter and cartoonist, Sabrinath was best known as Ramu in the cartoon series ‘Cheriya Manaur Ulu Vaila Lokam’ which gained popularity through the Mathrubhumi weekly. Sabrinath’s similarity in appearance and appearance with Ram immortalized by G Aravind was so great. Aravindan created Ramu in the same image with the knowledge and consent of Sabrinath as both were neighbours, classmates and relatives.

It was not just the bird’s-nest hair and pointed face that Aravindan transferred from Sabrinath to Ramu. The youth group, including Aravindan, saw, said and worried about the Tirunakkara firing. Along with the worries of Ramu’s middle-class family, the pomps of the time, politics, cinema and music came and went. At one point in the cartoon, the friend says to Ramu that he should remember the time when Aravindan and Sabrinath were tutorial college teachers, I hear you are a small retired professor. To that, ‘Lorca somewhere has described Ont as a drop of a crocodile’ is the counterpoint of Aravindan’s self-image Guruji. Many such instances from the larger world of Aravindan and Sabrinath can be found in the cartoon series that ran for 13 years in the weekly.

Sabrinath later explained that such a cartoon background was formed in consultation between him and Aravindan. It was during the 1960s when Aravindan was working in Kothamangalam as a rubber board official. According to Sabari, everyone seen in the cartoon is a reflection of those around them. His brother N Gopalakrishnan and classmate Dr. Gopi in the cartoon is also Gopi. Dr. Gopi’s wife was a Bengali named Apurna from Madhya Pradesh. Muhammad was a merchant in the country.

Sabrinath, who hails from Kottayam, came to Kochi as a commercial artist. Married Saroja who was an official at Toshiba Anand and settled in Elur. Later, while living in Aluva and finally in Thrikkakara, he replaced the old sparrowhawk hair and pointed bearded face with long shoulder-length hair and a graying beard. Still, many people recognized the old Ramu in the evening firing that took place at Thirukkakara on the model of Tirunakkara.
