The artist Anwar Wagdy died on May 14, this day, 1955, at the age of 51, “born in 1904.” His death was in Stockholm, Sweden, to which he traveled for treatment at a doctor who invented a dialysis device, and was the first of its kind in the world, but there his condition worsened and he lost his sight. And he returned a body accompanied by his wife, the artist, Laila Fawzy, and according to Al-Ahram on May 5, 1955: “He offered three quarters of his wealth to the doctor if he saved his life.”

He spent a long time before Youssef Wahbi allowed him to stand on stage in the role of the silent extra, and he was able, with his lightness, to penetrate the hearts of the gods of the Ramesses theater. And his wages continued to increase from ten pounds to twenty to fifty, until he reached one thousand pounds per role.

Cinema has become his world in which he travels and wanders, he became its first girl for many years, and during his glow in it he married three times, the first to Ilham Hussein, the second to Laila Murad, and the last to Laila Fawzi, and with his artistic successes his financial wealth was rising to put it in building a building, mentions Al-Bandari said that the last time he met him, he asked him about the date of filming his next movie, and he replied: “I want to live. I spent half my life searching for a living, and a quarter of my life producing films, and now I want to work in building production. ».
