Precautions to enjoy the Annular Solar Eclipse with your family. Did you know that you can also see it with your pets?

Safe Observation:

● Never look directly at the solar eclipse. To see the sun without damaging your eyes, it is essential to use solar filters, special telescopes and eclipse glasses that comply with the 2015 ISO 12312-2 standard.
● You can opt for indirect devices, such as pinhole cameras, which allow you to view the eclipse indirectly and can be made inexpensively at home.
● You can see the eclipse indirectly by observing the shadow of the moon that covers the sun on the ground or use a sieve allowing the light of the eclipse to pass through the small holes and each hole will be a projection of the image of the sun on the ground, you will not have an eclipse but as many eclipses as there are holes in the sieve.

Be careful with your Pets:

● It is important to remember that animals have their own protection mechanisms, but you should prevent them from looking directly at the eclipse.
● Never place eclipse glasses on your pets or place them near telescopes or other instruments. Cats and dogs have infrared detectors in their eyes and could be seriously affected by the sun’s rays.

Avoid Using Unsafe Devices:

● Do not use x-rays, tinted glass or dark glasses to observe the eclipse. These methods do not provide adequate protection for you or your family’s eyes.
● Glasses with welding filters are not highly recommended unless we are completely sure that it is above number 14.
