Jürgen Klopp, coach of Liverpool, revealed his conversation with winger Mohamed Salah following the latter missed two penalty kicks in a row, stressing that the Egyptian international got rid of the curse that befell him.
Salah scored a penalty kick to preserve Liverpool’s slim hopes of reaching the Champions League next season, following winning 1-0 at home to Fulham in the English Premier League on Wednesday.
Klopp said in statements reported by his club’s official website: We had a discussion during which he said he wanted to remain the first penalty taker, I told him well, you have that.
And he continued: He said that he did not feel comfortable following he missed two penalties in a row, but with all the goals he scored, we cannot judge him because of two missed goals, he finally got rid of the curse.
He added: This is what I meant when I said we would talk regarding it, I know you understood that I would tell him not to take penalties anymore, but I meant a useful conversation between two mature men.
