The scandal unleashed by the incorporation of a deceased woman to the list of the candidate for mayor for Together for Change Salsipuedes, Miguel Zavala reached the heart of the highest authorities of the department of Colón.
After a meeting held on Saturday May 13 between Zavala and the leaders of the parties that make up the alliance (UCR, Frente Cívico and Pro), they decided to request the resignation and expulsion of the representative of the UCR Salsipuedes, Ricardo Giménez.
This was anticipated by the president of the Radical Civic Union (UCR) of the Colón department, Daniel Salibi. Considering that Giménez forged the signature of Silvia Ramos, the deceased militant on the list.
“First of all, as president of the department, I am going to request on Monday, May 15, at Casa Radical, the automatic resignation of the representative of the Radical Civic Union of Salsipuedes, Mr. Ricardo Jiménez,” he said.
And he blamed the proxy for being the one who gathered the documentation to be presented to the Municipal Electoral Board.
“The signature and photocopy of the document of someone who unfortunately died appeared on the form. He is playing with this person’s family. Here what we want is to safeguard the family on the one hand, and politics on the other, all the leaders cannot be dirty by one, two or three responsible for this situation, ”he said.
In turn, he stated that those responsible will have to clarify before the Justice for possible complaints that there will surely be. “Giménez should be the first to come out and give an answer. If it was not he, he should make the corresponding statements, but we are in an extremely serious situation, ”he said.
In addition, Salibi apologized to all affiliates and said that personalist politics is generating a political decadence that harms the citizenry.
“As president of the UCR Colón, the second largest department in the province, electorally, I apologize to the affiliates. When there are politicians of these characteristics or of this type, they cannot be forming a party. It does politics and people a lot of harm,” he asserted.
The same thing was highlighted by the vice president of the UCR of the Colón department, Adriana Batías, who affirmed that politics and people are dirty. “As part of the party and with years of militancy, I don’t like these things to happen because we work cleanly. And that a person (Giménez) comes to dirty it is out of place and I don’t like it, ”she said.

The Salsipuedes Together for Change alliance added Silvia Ramos, a woman who died in February 2023, to the list of candidates for substitute councilors for the next municipal elections.
On Saturday, May 6, the lists closed and it was a big surprise when the Electoral Board warned that, on the list of Together for Change, which has Miguel Zavala as a candidate for mayor, included Ramos, who died in February 2023 in his house in the El Bosque neighborhood.
Regarding this fact, Zavala clarified that it was a mistake not to have checked the list of candidates before presenting it to the Electoral Board.
