Al-Marsad newspaper: The former player, Sami Al-Jaber, revealed the details of his early suspension, and the difficulties he faced, and almost ended his sporting life.

Beginning of his sports career

Al-Jaber said, during his hosting of the “Meeting from Zero” program, on MBC, that he started his sports career in 1988.

Al-Jaber added: “The first year I played, I got the league’s top scorer with Majed Abdullah, and we got League No. 6.”

He continued, “The year 1992 was a turning point in my life, and it was very difficult, and I was exposed to situations that almost ended my sporting life.”

He continued: “In the 1992 Barcelona Olympic qualifiers, I was in reserve in the Jordan match, and the strange thing is that I did not participate in the two matches after that, neither Bahrain nor Sri Lanka.”

And Al-Jaber added: “In the Jordan match, Jordan’s first goal was scored by mistake from Muhammad Al-Deayea, and we lost the match and did not qualify for the Olympics.”

While the retired goalkeeper, Muhammad Al-Deayea, said: “The chances achieved in the Jordan match could have been 18, and everyone missed opportunities.”

Al-Deayea added, “Sami Al-Jaber and I were excluded from the match between Sri Lanka and Bahrain, even though the team needed us.”
