Samsung brings 5G to its entry-level offer by improving the Galaxy A13

The South Korean manufacturer Samsung has announced the availability in France of the Galaxy A13 model, now 5G compatible, and is increasing its price accordingly.

And smartphone Samsung sold €50 more expensive than its 4G version released in the middle of the year. But it still provides access to 5G to as many people as possible while remaining below the 300€ mark.

Almost the A13 but not quite

This is yet another smartphone announced and released this year by Samsung. After the Galaxy S21 FE, S22 and its higher end versions or even the A33, A53 and, more recently, A23 5G, so here is the A13 5G. An identical model but with 5G in addition? It’s not as simple as that. Samsung seems to have had to make compromises if it wanted to keep this model in its entry-level offer.

If it is still equipped with an 8-core processor offering 4 GB of RAM, these are only clocked at 2.2 GHz, against 2.4 for its 4G leaning. The Galaxy A13 5G is also smaller than his older brother, with a 6.5-inch LCD screen compared to 6.6. It only offers a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels while the A13 released earlier in the year offers 2408 x 1080 pixels. However, the 5G version promises a higher refresh rate, at 90 Hz.

Autonomy still as important

The last size change made to this Galaxy A13 5G is the disappearance of one of the sensors on the back of the smartphone. The resolution of the front camera has also been revised downwards by offering only 5 Mpx against 8 for the previous model.

On the other hand, its 5000 mAh battery, supporting fast charging at 15 W, is still relevant to offer its acclaimed autonomy of two days. The smartphone is sold with a memory of 64 GB, expandable up to 1 TB with a micro SD card.

The Galaxy A13 5G retails for €249, which is €50 more than the A13 when it launched.
