S22 Ultra battery life test
The S22 Ultra is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery capacity, which is the same as the previous generation S21 Ultra, but the S22 Ultra uses the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Does it affect its battery life? We used PCMark’s battery life test function, and set the screen refresh rate to “Optimized” when Airplane Mode was turned on, the screen brightness and volume were set to 50%, and the screen resolution was set to the default FHD+. (up to 120Hz) and “Standard” (60Hz) to test the battery life of the phone.
The result is from 100% consumption to 20%. The 120Hz mode ran for 13 hours and 14 minutes, while the 60Hz mode ran for 14 hours and 49 minutes. The difference between the two is only about one and a half hours; because PCMark is mainly used for more life. Application scenarios, so it can also be interpreted as under normal use of mobile phones, the endurance performance between 120Hz and 60Hz is not very different, but 120Hz can greatly improve the user experience, so it is not necessary to turn it off.
In addition, the previous generation S21 Ultra has the same capacity battery, but it ran for 11 hours and 14 minutes in 120Hz mode. It can be seen that the S22 Ultra processor is more powerful but more power-efficient.

If the battery consumption is linear, it can be converted into a fully charged battery to play “Genshin Impact” for 5.6 hours.

charging test
At the time of S20 Ultra, Samsung added 45W fast charging capability to mobile phones for the first time, and although this function was reduced to 25W on S21 Ultra, S22 Ultra also added 45W fast charging back. However, there is no built-in charger in the S22 Ultra package. Do I need to buy a 45W specification if I want to add it? We also measured the charging time of the S22 Ultra a little here.
We used Samsung’s original 45W and 25W USB-C chargers to charge the S22 Ultra from 2%, and timed to 100%, and recorded the charging situation through the 3C Battery Manager App. The results can be found that when using a 45W charger to charge the phone, it takes 54 minutes to fully charge the phone, and if using a 25W charger, it takes 65 minutes to fully charge. The difference between the two is 11 minutes, which is not very much. But for your reference, when we tested the S20 Ultra earlier, it took 66 minutes to charge from 2% to full with a 45W charger; at the same wattage, the S22 Ultra adopted a slightly more aggressive charging strategy.

The S22 Ultra is a big seller, and many consumers mainly come for its S Pen. The S Pen of the S22 Ultra also has a built-in small battery and supports Bluetooth low power connection, which can be used for remote control. function, it will charge itself when it is inserted back into the pen slot.
The S Pen itself also supports 4096-level pressure sensitivity, but it uses a series of technologies, including AI stroke prediction and new Wacom components, to make the delay of strokes (that is, from the tip of the pen touching the screen to the stroke appearing on the screen) from the previous generation. 9ms has been reduced to only 2.8ms, a significant reduction of 68.9%. Therefore, when the S22 Ultra uses the S Pen to write, there is no feeling that the strokes of the previous Note series are slightly unable to keep up with the movements.
