Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 series, set to be launched next year, may not see any selfie camera improvements according to new leaks. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to have a 5x telephoto camera, replacing the 3x zoom unit, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s selfie cameras, as well as the vanilla and Plus models in the lineup, will remain unchanged in terms of hardware. Dutch publication GalaxyClub reports that Samsung plans to retain the 12MP selfie camera from the Galaxy S24 range for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models. However, there is a possibility that the S24 series can still offer enhanced selfie capabilities through software optimizations. On the plus side, Samsung is expected to continue using the impressive 200MP sensor from the Galaxy S23 Ultra for the Galaxy S24. In addition, the charging speeds of the S24+ and S24 Ultra models are likely to receive an additional boost, as the Korean company plans to adopt stacked battery technology, which could increase charging speeds from 45W to 65W. Unfortunately, the standard Galaxy S24 will see only a slight improvement, reaching a charging speed of up to 25W, according to the Hindustan Times. While selfie enthusiasts may be disappointed by the lack of a hardware upgrade in the front cameras, Samsung’s software improvements may lead to improved photo performance for the Galaxy S24 series. In addition to the hardware upgrades, Samsung is also working on integrating AI technology into the Galaxy S24 series, and the company is developing AI capabilities specifically for this lineup. Notably, the AI technology differs from Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant, although exact details about its implementation are not revealed at this time.
