“Samsung” responds to a common complaint about the “swelling” of its smartphone batteries

Some YouTube users have noticed that the batteries in older models of South Korean Samsung phones swell unexpectedly.

Among them is YouTuber Aaron Maine, who was surprised that his Galaxy Note 8’s battery swollen and led to the device being unlocked, while researching his collection of more than 600 smartphones while preparing a video about “Samsung”.

Maine also noticed that the batteries in the Galaxy S6 and S10 also swollen.

In late September, Aaron Maini posted a video on YouTube, dealing with his disturbing findings.

For its part, Samsung, through its spokesperson, said in statements to The Verge, on Wednesday, that it is aware of the issue of “bulging batteries,” and that it is “looking into further technical evaluations.”

And she continued, “We encourage customers who have questions regarding their Samsung devices to contact their local customer service representative.”

For his part, the technical expert, Arthur Shea, on the “ifixit” website, explained the swelling of the battery by the fact that the electrolyte in the batteries, which is usually liquid, begins to collapse and then turns into gas.

He added, stressing that there is no need to panic about encountering a swollen phone battery, noting that “bloating in itself is not dangerous in nature,” and it is a safety mechanism to contain volatile gases.
