Samsung will indeed focus on AI for the months to come. The firm is today unveiling Galaxy AI, the aim of which is to offer artificial intelligence directly on the smartphone.

For almost a year, the tech world has only had eyes for generative artificial intelligence. ChatGPT managed to quickly become very popular around the world and now all players are trying to emulate this success.
At Samsung, we would like to make mobile AI the spearhead of Galaxy smartphones for the months to come. All eyes are obviously on the future Galaxy S24, but Samsung is anticipating its future flagship by unveiling Galaxy AI now.
Local or cloud AI
On son blog, Samsung believes it has contributed to democratizing photography and internet access thanks to its Galaxy smartphones. The firm would now like to do the same with AI by differentiating itself from others precisely through extensive smartphone integration.

The brand’s initiatives will now all be grouped under the Galaxy AI name. This will concern both applications using the phone’s chip for local AI, such as in photo editing, as well as generative AI applications which require the power of the cloud to function.
Real-time translation of your calls
First concrete application of Galaxy AI: the AI Live Translate Call service which will “enabling users of the latest Galaxy AI phone to have a personal translator whenever they need one.» This is nothing more and nothing less than the promise of making a call in a foreign language directly from the phone application on your device. This service will use the SoC of the smartphone and Samsung promises confidentiality of calls made with its tool.
We can also read in the description that Samsung will create a category of “Galaxy AI phone“. We will have to wait to see what the exact list of affected phones is.
Galaxy AI will be offered from the beginning of 2024, the period when we expect the commercial launch of the Galaxy S24.
