Campaign reveals the impact of the initiative by bringing testimonials from young people who participated in the program over the years

Samsung believes that a more sustainable future is possible when people are empowered through education. This is the proposal of Solve for Tomorrow, which celebrates ten years of operation in Latin America in 2023. The company’s global corporate citizenship program encourages students from public schools to identify real problems and develop solutions to these demands using the learning system scientific STEM (acronym in English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

And in celebration of the date, Samsung has just launched its new campaign, which will address how Solve For Tomorrow impacted the lives of thousands of students and teachers across the region.

In addition to main videothe campaign, produced by the agency LEO BURNETT TM, has six videos with testimonials that bring stories of students who participated in Solve For Tomorrow in Latin America over the years, and stood out by developing projects with real impact on society in the areas of Sustainability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Community Improvement.

“Samsung believes that by empowering future generations through Education we can generate a real impact on society. This is clear through our global vision of Corporate Citizenship.”Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People”. These young people will be the agents of change and will be able to contribute to a better future for everyone”, points out Helvio Kanamaru, Director of Corporate Citizenship and ESG at Samsung for Latin America.

As an example of this positive impact, three Brazilian projects are highlighted in the new campaign films. One of them was developed by students from Crateús, in Ceará. The students, winners in 2021 with the project “Solar Water Purification System“, they currently attend college and dedicate themselves to the scientific field. In the same year, students from Campinas, São Paulo, presented the project “Alarm Bracelet: Walking Safely – to protect the most vulnerable people, such as women and members of the LGBTQI+ community”. In Rio Grande do Norte, three students from the municipality of Currais Novos developed tiles with plaster and coconut straw.

With a project along the same lines, in Colombia, professor Hernán Ernesto and his students won the 2022 edition with “Coolroof”, a roofing system designed to reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat than a conventional roof. They suffered from the heat in the classroom, which motivated the project, which is capable of reducing high temperatures in homes, improving the quality of life in communities. Currently, the idea is being implemented by the participating school.

In 2016, Argentine student Valentina Avetta, currently 26 years old, found herself depending on insulin to treat her diabetes and decided to develop a thermochromic sensor to detect the loss of the cold chain of biosynthetic insulin when in the consumer’s hands. This factor is essential to maintain the effectiveness of the product, as it cannot exceed 30 degrees when opened. Valentina won the program and the project presented at the time became the subject of her final project at the engineering college.

“These are just some of the transformative Solve for Tomorrow stories we are so proud to tell in our new campaign. We are excited to see the real impact of the program through testimonials from participants. With small steps like this, Samsung believes it can build a better and more sustainable future for everyone”, says Arthur Wong, Senior Director of Marketing for Samsung Latin America.
