Sandeep Lamichhane’s Joining of Nepal’s Asia Cup Squad Despite Pending Trial

Kathmandu: Right-handed leg-spinner and former captain Sandeep Lemichane has joined Nepal’s squad for the Asia Cup. The squad for the Asia Cup was announced as the player is set to face trial for the rape of a minor girl. The star was also included in the team. The player did not join the team due to the impossibility of trial.

Meanwhile, the actor joined the team after the trial was adjourned. The actor’s lawyer confirmed that the trial has been postponed. The lawyer stated that the hearing in the case has been postponed to September 7.

The 23-year-old is one of Nepal’s best players. A shining star in franchise cricket leagues around the world. The actor also played for Delhi Capitals in IPL. Sandeep is also the highest wicket-taker for Nepal in ODI and T20 matches.

A charge of raping a 17-year-old girl in a hotel in Kathmandu was registered against the actor in August last year.

Later the actor was arrested. The star was fired from the captaincy of the national team. A ban was also imposed.

The actor was granted bail in January this year. With this he was released from prison. Later, the Nepal Cricket Board canceled the player’s ban. The actor returned to international competitions. The court also granted permission to travel outside the country in the order granting bail to the actor.
