Saran is making his revolution!

Since December 11, Fabien Courtial is no longer the coach of the Saran Septors. Management made the choice to replace him with Jérémy Roussel. However, the former coach remains with the club.

A defeat and radical changes. The match lost against Ivry last week served as a shock for the Saran Septors. The club management has made the decision to relieve Fabien Courtial of his duties as head coach. A real turning point for Saran, since he had been coach of the professional team since 2009.

Jérémy Roussel becomes the new coach

At the head of the team for 14 years, Fabien Courtial has experienced everything in Saran. First a player and captain, he allowed the club, as a coach, to move up to the elite three times (2016, 2021, 2023). But this season, the results of the Saran Septors are not very positive. Far from counting against the biggest names in the Liqui Moly Starligue and losing against its direct competitors, its fight to maintain itself is not yet won. Penultimate in the championship standings, Saran no longer has any room for error. This is why management preferred to opt for changes in order to regain good momentum. It is Jéméry Roussel, current director of the training center and leader of the reserve in Nationale 1, who has now assumed the role of coach since December 11 and until further notice.

However, the club did not want to let go of Fabien Courtial. He announced his appointment as chief development officer later in the week. “The Septors are happy to retain a major element of its history and to allow him to continue his career in a new position which confirms the complete structuring of the club both on a sporting and administrative level”, he indicated. The former coach is delighted with this new mission. “The task entrusted to me today is immense but so exciting. I had extraordinary years as coach of the team. A new chapter opens for me”, welcomes Fabien Courtial. For the president of Saran Loiret Handball, this designation was easy to take. “Entrusting new tasks to Fabien was obvious given his experience and skills,” underlines Bruno Bordier.

The next crucial deadline for the club’s retention in the elite takes place this Saturday, December 16. The Saranais face Dijon (8 p.m.), last in the championship.
