On Saturday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah stressed Riyadh’s refusal to target civilians “in any way” during the military escalation between Hamas and Israel, in a call with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken.
Quotes news agency The official “SPA” newspaper said that the Saudi minister made a telephone call with Blinken, on Saturday evening, to discuss “the latest developments in the situation in Gaza and its surroundings.”
In the call, the Saudi minister stressed the need to work to immediately stop the escalation, and the need to respect international humanitarian law by all parties.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also called for the need to join efforts to calm the situation and avoid further violence, according to the Saudi agency.
The Saudi position comes after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip.
The death toll from the attack carried out by Hamas on towns in southern Israel rose to about 250 people, while at least 232 people were killed in Israeli raids targeting the Gaza Strip.
