A building at Lugano station weighing 600 tons was moved 40 meters. Carried out on Wednesday morning using rails, the operation was necessary to advance excavation work for an underpass in the Besso district.

The building had first housed a post office, then customs, before returning to the SBB. Federal authorities have requested that it be preserved due to its historical and architectural significance. Months of preparation were needed to organize his trip.
