Parents demand strict action to curb rising school bus accidents in Oman Seven children have lost their lives in various road accidents in the last 22 months. The latest accident in the Batina area has left three children dead after a derailed bus hit a truck coming from the opposite direction. The incident took place last Thursday in Saham district.

Many school bus drivers have been accused of speeding and careless driving. Parents have asked the Royal Oman Police to set an age limit for school bus drivers and to hire drivers with at least five years of experience.
The main complaint of parents is that there are more people with less experience in driving. A school bus overturned in Alwusta on April 4, killing three teachers. Compared to 2020, the rate of road accidents has decreased by 33% in 2021.
