Schott and Zeiss on board: Vivo’s folding smartphone is called the X Fold

With the Galaxy Fold series, Samsung has been active in the folding smartphone business for some time. Likewise Huawei with the Mate X series. Little by little, other manufacturers are also showing their foldable developments.

Xiaomi and Oppo have already introduced folding smartphones this year, and now Vivo is also presenting its first phone with a flexible display. In addition to the foldable 8-inch main display on the inside, the X Fold also has a 6.53-inch display on the outside. They each work with a refresh rate of 120 Hertz and both offer an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The flexible special glass for the main display, but also the cover glass come from Schott. There is also German participation in the quadruple camera system, where Zeiss supplied the coating for the lenses and certified the optics.

The drive is provided by Qualcomm’s high-end processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The battery (4600 mAh) can be charged quickly with 66 watts: half in 17 minutes and fully in 37 minutes. The X Fold is initially only available in China.
