The news from California spread like wildfire. There, researchers at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory succeeded to produce more energy in a controlled nuclear fusion when they had to use for the process. As the “Washington Post” and “Financial Times” are the first to report that the researchers used 2.1 megajoules of energy to initiate the fusion of two hydrogen isotopes using laser beams. The fusion reaction in the facility produced 2.5 megajoules of energy.
