Hamburg (ots) nextMedia.Hamburg’s annual conference for the journalism of the future will take place on September 14th for the 15th time. The focus is on financing and product development solutions for sustainable, digital journalism. For this purpose, a line-up of international speakers will come together in Hamburg – the full program was announced today.

  • The all-day program focuses on financing models and product development for journalism
  • 12 Hamburg media companies designed the program together with nextMedia.Hamburg
  • Among others, experts from ZEIT Online, The Telegraph, CORRECTIV and the NZZ are expected
  • A limited number of tickets is below www.scoopcamp.de available

For the first time this year, nextMedia.Hamburg designed the program together with a newly founded scoopcamp board. The board includes representatives from the Bauer Media Group, brand eins, DER SPIEGEL, DIE ZEIT, dpa, Hamburger Abendblatt, Jahreszeiten Verlag, NDR, New Work SE, NOZ digital, OMR and RTL.

The future questions for journalism: AI and financing strategies

The scoopcamp is run by Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media in Hamburg, who will take part in a panel discussion after the opening together with well-known experts from the local and national media industry. Under the title “Public law, private or non-profit? How will journalism of the future be financed?” the speakers discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different financing strategies and share what they have learned from their respective professional experience in the context of the ongoing digitization of the media world.

The first panel is followed by the presentation of the scoop award by Prof. Dr. Maren Urner to this year’s award winner Prof. Christina Elmer for her great contribution in journalistic practice and teaching in the field of digital and data journalism. In her subsequent keynote, Prof. Elmer talks about the changes and opportunities that AI disruption brings to the media industry and journalism.

An international line up

Also this year the scoopcamp takes a look beyond the borders of Germany and offers international experts the stage to share their expertise. These include Mathias Douchet (The Telegraph) and Maylis Chevalier (Vocento), who will talk about what they have learned in product development in a joint panel. A topic that Nashua Gallagher (Neue Zürcher Zeitung) will deepen in her keynote entitled “It’s not just about the paywall”.

Generation Z and Alpha: What moves the next generation of journalists?

However, it is not only financing strategies, technical innovations and product development in digital competition that are driving the media industry today – also the question of how media houses and publishers can secure the best talent and keep them. Hatice Kahraman (Salon5 CORRECTIV), Christoph Zimmer (DER SPIEGEL), Johanna Rüdiger (Deutsche Welle), Miriam Scharlibbe (sh:z) and Astrid Maier (XING) will discuss this at the panel “When the next generation suddenly says no – strategies for a media industry in the battle for the best talents”.

New location, new partners and an increased focus on dialogue

Even more than in previous years, the focus of the 15th scoopcamp is on the exchange between the participants. For this purpose, in addition to the many panel discussions, the conference also offers open themed rooms that invite you to exchange ideas with the speakers and board partners and encourage dialogue.

The scoopcamp is taking place for the first time this year in the newly opened SPACE of the nextMedia.Hamburg location initiative and the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft – a meeting and collaboration space for the Hamburg content and technology industry.

The whole program is up now www.scoopcamp.de available. Interested parties can visit the scoopcamp homepage and at Eventbrite also purchase a limited number of tickets for the conference.
