Under the motto “Sea Change – The Art of Transformation” the “Word cradle“ will bring their international work more into focus with the autumn edition of their festival “Europe in Scene” in Wiener Neustadt. At the same time, a permanent international schedule is to be presented.
“The festival highlights the art of transformation in all its formats,” says Festival leader Anna Maria Krassnigg. “The solutions of our time lie beyond strictly binary thinking,” she is convinced.
In recent years, dramas of power and royalty have been the focus of Wortwiege productions in the Wiener Neustädter Kasematten. Now we want to offer an alternative to this, emphasizes the festival director.

“Sea Change is a scenic antidote to mechanisms of rigidity. The art of transformation is inscribed in the theater.” The festival is inspired by the thinking of Virginia Woolf or William Shakespeare, but also by Mediterranean myths such as “Racing Roland” or the Metamorphoses of the Roman poet Ovid.
International
With “Dido” it’s in Austria for the first time a work by the Turkish Choreographers and dancers See Korhan Basaran. Also the performance “Lucy was not long ago” by the author and director Aleksandar Acev from Zagreb.
In “Orlando Trip”, film musical theater from Fox on Ice, the Transformation journey of the mythical figure Orlando. Also in the program: the guest performance “Cavaliere Huscher” by Fritz von Herzmanovsky-Orlando as well as Ovid’s Metamorphoses in a sample of the cradle of words.

In the “Salon Europa” series of discussions, the need for transformation skills in the face of global challenges will be examined with prominent guests. In the Theaterserie “Talk!” Krassnigg gives Virginia Woolf a prominent place, among others.
“We simply felt like offering a fluid, even maritime program that speaks of visions of transformation and solution in almost all areas, in contrast to the prevailing atmosphere of cementation and division,” says the festival director.
