Season 2 Part 2 Trailer: ‘Wednesday’ Returns with Principal Weems’ Unexpected Comeback

We might not have Lady Gaga yet, but Gwendoline Christie makes a bold return in the new trailer

Wednesday fans: Do you miss Principal Weems? Well, you just might be in luck.

Nevermore Academy’s former principal — a shapeshifter, who was once roommates with Wednesday’s mom (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and died at the end of Season One — returns in the new trailer for Wednesday Season Two, Part Two.

Weems, played by Gwendoline Christie, appears in the clip as Wednesday’s new “spirit guide.” She greets Jenna Ortega‘s character in a hospital bed as she says, “Rise and shine, sleepy head! Ready for your sponge bath?” No one else can see her except for Wednesday, as she embarks on a mission to kill Tyler, the barista-turned-monster, who is seeking revenge.

The first part of Wednesday Season Two dropped on Netflix on Aug. 6, featuring a killer soundtrack of Bruce Springsteen, the Kinks, and more. Part Two, which arrives on Sept. 3, will show the long-awaited appearance of Lady Gaga. The superstar plays Rosaline Rotwood, “a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday,” Netflix said.

Christie recently starred in Season Two of Severance. In 2022, she spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her complicated Wednesday character, and how she was inspired by iconic, icy blonde Alfred Hitchcock heroins like Kim Novak and Tippi Hedren. “But whereas Hitchcock heroins tend to have all sorts of trauma being exacted upon them, for this to be a woman who was in charge of her own fate, who was ruthlessly ambitious and who was willingly putting herself into dangerous and extreme situations, was exciting to me,” she said.
